What is a finial?

Finial : A sculptured ornament, often in the shape of a leaf or flower, at the top of a gable, pinnacle, or similar structure.

Note: This will be one of several finial designs I am making. This is the simplest version - basically just a cover for a bolt and nut.

This finial is designed to be mounted on the end of a ¼"-20 thread (or M6-1), and to fit over a nut on that thread (picture a bolt projecting upward, held on by a nut - the finial screws onto the bolt end). The finial has an internal cylindrical opening which needs to be tapped to fit the thread you are using.

Print Instructions

Since I will be using this outdoors, I printed in PETG. Use the gcode or 3mf files provided to print in PETG. Otherwise :

  • perimeters = 4
  • 5% rectilinear infill
  • no supports required
