I needed to wind hundreds of meters of small-gauge wire onto many separate common 55 mm × 20 mm spools, so I designed this tool to allow me to use my electric screwdriver (or a drill) with a standard, albeit long, 0.25 in (6.35 mm) hex bit to speed up the winding process.

In order to hopefully get more use out it in the future after my initial task, I designed it to support a wide range of spool sizes. It should work for spools with an arbor hole (or axial bore) ranging from 20 mm to 75 mm in diameter, and as wide as 110 mm in the best case, or at least 80 mm wide in the worst case, depending on the size of the arbor hole.

This means it works with both the small 55 mm × 20 mm spools that I needed it for right away, which typically have a ≈1 in (or ≈25 mm) arbor hole, as well as most 1 kg filament spools.

Since I used ASTM D2911 “M”-style modified buttress threads, this should print well without supports (as long as you can print 45 degree overhangs without supports, which is typical).
