DESCRIPTION:

There are some great expo marker holders out there, but I could not find one that fit the Quartet Magnetic glass whiteboards or that held the small expo spray bottles so I made this up in Tinkercad.

This will fit 4 expo markers, a small bottle of the expo spray cleaner, and has a recess for a 12mm (1/2") magnet (superglue in) to hang a wiping towel (my little girl sewed a magnet in the corner of a towels for me) from. It has a 5mm wide slot to slip onto the magnetic glass whiteboard, as well as recesses for 4 more 12mm magnets on the back (in case you want to move it around on front of the board), but these are not needed to mount on the whiteboard.

I printed these for several company offices and they have been a big hit.

PARTS:

Optional – 4x 12mm neodymium magnets for the back

Optional – 1x 12mm neodymium magnet for the front

ASSEMBLY:

You can glue 12mm neodymium magnets in the back so you can hang holder on a magnetic whiteboard, or the front slot so you can hang a towel with a magnet in the corner on the holder (see picture). The holders also have a slot designed in them that allows them to press fit on to the side of the white board, so the back magnets may be unnecessary.

If the markers are too difficult to put in or remove, put some markers in and run under hot water to loosen (thermoplastic is awesome). Note that these will also loosen with use.

EDITs:

02/22/17: After printing about 10 of these for the office I got some feedback about the number of markers held and the "smoothness" of the clips. I made updates to the original file, and added a new 6 marker version.

05/08/22: After more than 5 years nearly all of these are still in use. Sewing a magnet into the corner of a towel to hang from these has been a popular addition.

11/08/2025: We moved to a bigger office with more conference rooms and people had to track down who made these because they could not find where to buy them :). It was nice when they asked for a bunch more.
