A better and more balanced part cooling duct for the Qidi Q1 Pro. This one is custom designed and will NOT work with the stock probe unless it is relocated. Check out the probe relocation mount by Mi3. I've designed this around having a BTT Eddy Duo installed using my mount for it but you should be fine as long as the stock probe is relocated/removed. If you'd like a “matching” custom toolhead back cover, snag the one I made for the Q1P eddy duo mount.

BOM:

  • M3x8mm x 2
  • M3x16mm x 2
  • 5mm OD x 2mm thick magnets x 2

Printing

Use a heat-resistant material. ASA/ABS minimum. I printed mine out of ABS-GF25. Refer to the .3mf files to see the settings I used and how the parts are oriented. No supports needed for the duct but are for the cover. I printed both with a layer height of 0.16mm.

Notes:

I've adjusted the position of the cooling fan compared to stock as the wide outlet 5015s have a bias blowing air towards the right. This should balance the air path in conjunction with the split in the duct. I've also replaced the stock fan with a GDSTIME wide outlet 5015 8500 RPM fan.

Assembly:

Use glue to secure the magnets. I added cutouts on the side of the magnet slots to make them easily removable if needed. “Tap” the duct screws holes with M3 screws before connecting to the cover, then tighten and secure the duct via screws. Use the allen key or something that will fit between the slots in the front cover to tighten the screws. See below for reference.

Pre-tap the screw holes for the fan in the front cover with M3 screws like you did for the duct. Place fan into the front cover and hold it in place while securing the fan via screws. Use electrical/aluminum or another appropriate type of tape to further secure and seal the fan.

Pictures are of another version but they tell you the order of assembly. From there, secure the fan wire via ziptie, mount the front cover to the toolhead and you're set.

Final Notes:

The stock toolhead front cover configuration with the duct and fan is around 75.8 grams. My custom version is sub 60 grams depending on the material used for printing. It provides some benefits for the printer motion system and input shaping. I've included the STEP files for others to iterate or make their own versions. Below is an overhang test being printed in elegoo rapid pla plus WITHOUT any aux fan. Enjoy :)
