Remixed cranium and mandible of an adult female chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes verus, NMNHVZ 7360749, USNM 481803) from the Smithsonian (under cc0 license). This specimen was collected in 1971 from Liberia (https://3d.si.edu/object/3d/pan-troglodytes-verus-mandible:1cfd908f-d04d-44d9-a9fc-61f6cec47545).
As with my other osteology remixes, I removed the internal surfaces to simplify the model for 3D printing. This individual has great detail and an interesting nasal bone area (at least it looks different to me from some other chimp skulls). The teeth are worn flat and the mandible articulates well with the cranium.
For printing, 0.16 mm layers turned out the best--0.20 looked pretty rough on the support surfaces but feel free to try it for faster printing. I oriented the cranium so that the nuchal line was not affected by the supports (supports are between the nuchal line and foramen magnum). Use tree supports with top interface spacing = 0 and matte filament to make support removal easier. This will fit on a small printer like the A1 mini in the orientation I have provided in the generic 3mf. I have also uploaded the STLs in the printing orientation.
Great model to add to your reference collection of primates for a bioanth, human evolution, primatology, or paleoanthropology classes or lessons. Compare to the juvenile chimpanzee here.

Since these were microCT models, I removed interior surfaces and closed holes to simplify 3D printing using my methods described in this video. The cranium and mandible were listed separately on the Smithsonian site, so I found the matching record IDs.
