This custom mount integrates the optical filament runout sensor by SilencedFrost directly into the SF 3x5015 fan shroud mod for the Neptune 4, and includes a built-in receiver for ECAS04 pneumatic fitting for secure Bowden tube connection.
It is thought to replace the stock runout sensor, which relies on a spring and bearings that create excessive resistance and can limit extrusion performance. By switching to an optical sensor, filament detection becomes frictionless—improving reliability and extrusion consistency.
⚠ Known limitation: Optical sensors can’t detect clear (transparent) filaments, so filament runout may not be detected when printing with transparent materials.
