Bring more birds to your yard with this easy-to-print bird feeder! I designed this model to be as simple as possible to print. It’s a support-free print that comes in three pieces, allowing you to print each part perfectly on your own and you can mix and match colors to your taste. You'll have a sturdy, reliable bird feeder in no time.
I designed the model to work with M4 heat set inserts on the roof hinge, but you can also use self tapping screws if you don’t want to deal with a heat set insert (though I recommend you try it! I learned specifically for this model and had a kit up and running for under $4, add another $10 or so if you don’t already own a soldering iron).
Small touches you might not notice include a brick fireplace with vent all the way to the top, wood paneling texture on the interior walls, and drain holes that are flowers. This model will also work for pet birds to have a play area or even pet hamsters or other small rodents.
Key Features:
Support-Free Printing: Model was designed from the ground up with the goal of no support material being needed. Cabin should be printed with the base down, and the roof (x2 needed) should be printed with the tiles down. You may receive an overhang warning, but all models shown were printed with no support material on any parts.
Modular 3-Piece Design: Includes a base and two roof parts that fit together perfectly and allow for non-CFS/MMU multicolor. I do have a CFS, and you can see on one print I did a layer change right after the drain holes (flowers)
Optional Weatherproofing: Pockets are built into the design to hold .5 mm/.02 sheets of polycarbonate or acrylic for the windows and door. 4 small pieces are needed for the side windows and 2 large pieces for the front and back which covers 2 windows and the door (not all the way down to allow seeds to flow in) each. You can leave these out, but it does add some weather proofing.
Mounting Options:
Base Option: The base has holes (recommend using at least two opposing corners to mount on the base. This is designed to work with m4 or m3 bolts.
Hanging option: The fireplace and opposing wall have reinforced holes for screwing in a wire hanger. This was designed to work with self tapping screws.
