Hey all,

I created this part to help me during the procedure laid out in my 2016 FZ-07 service manual for a valve adjustment. When checking the valve clearance, the manual asks you to rotate the crank 270 degrees counter-clockwise to put the 2nd cylinder into position to be measured. However, the manual fails to elaborate on how to go about rotating that 270 degrees. This tool takes the guesswork out of that or the need to concoct another solution.

The Procedure:
  1. As it states in the service manual:

“When piston #1 is at TDC (top dead center) on the compression stroke, align the TDC mark “a” on the generator rotor with the slot “b” in the generator rotor cover.”
  2. Take your measurements of cylinder one with your feeler gauge.
  3. Make sure the mark is still aligned through the inspection hole, then place the tool as is shown in the pictures and tighten the inspection bolt through it.
  4. Put your socket through the large hole in the tool and onto the crank.
  5. Put a mark on your socket right where the first line is at the start of the rotation shown on the tool.
  6. Now turn your crank (counter-clockwise) until the mark you put on your socket lines up with the second mark at the end of the rotation line/arrow.
Notes
  • The whole for the socket is 26mm in diameter. I made it to fit pretty snugly around my socket. If your socket is larger, let me know and I can potentially upload a version to accommodate it.
  • Print with the arrow design on the print bed to eliminate the need for supports.
