This insert transforms the IKEA Sannahed 25×25 cm (9 ¾×9 ¾″) frame into a LEGO®-compatible pixel art canvas.
Each piece is only 150×125 mm, so it fits almost any FDM printer. Print 4×, rotate each quadrant 90° during assembly, and you’ve got yourself a 30×30 stud grid ready for building.
🎨 With 1×1 bricks/plates → 30×30 pixel art.
🟩 With 2×2 bricks/plates → 15×15 pixel art.
✨ Or mix-and-match pieces for a unique look (bigger blocks, round tiles, slopes… get creative!).
The quadrants lock together with dovetail connectors. They're designed with 0.2mm clearace on all sides. The entire model can be printed without support -Simply sand the recessed dovetail pockets a bit to get rid of the ‘droopy’ first floating layer and glue the pieces together.
The wooden spacer that comes with the frame holds everything snugly, while the depth of the frame even lets you go a bit 3D with your art.
When you’re ready for something new? Pop it out, swap the design, hang it back up. Repeat forever.
Happy Building!

Buying all 900 bricks cost me 58€ - Depending on where you're located, your mileage will obviously vary.

Model size: 150×125 mm → fits on every common FDM build plate
Print it 4× to fill the frame
No supports necessary! The gap over the dovetail recess should bridge just fine.
light sanding on the dovetail pockets is required, if you print without supports.
Glue the dovetails into the pockets once you're happy with the fit.
Make sure to put the wooden spacer that comes with the frame between the plexiglass and 3D printed insert for maximum depth.
