Here's my take on the Type 3 phaser rifle. The idea was to get the details and contours looking good and to be able to assemble it without the need for extra hardware like metal/pvc support rods. The strange looking peg arrangement may be overkill but it does work to strengthen the joints. After building mine it feels pretty sturdy with no fear of breaking.
Update November 1 2025 - Added a display stand.
Update September 28 2025 - Added whole versions of the v2 Rear sections.
Update September 21 2025 - Added 6x2mm magnet version of the modular components.
Update September 14 2025 - Added 2 new custom modules-a scope and an alternate grip for the forward section. Enhanced swappable parts with 5x5mm magnets and added detailing to the magnet areas to look nicer. The scope channel fits the popup window. The tail part is meant to be a removable power cell. Added a split emitter tip for printing it clean without support scarring, or for making it safety orange for conventions/public places.
Update September 8 2025 - Added the flashlight module they used on DS9, plus a cap for the front grip cavity if you want a unique single-grip version of the rifle. Also added a full version of the rear section for larger printers.
Update September 5 2025 - Improved the trigger spring for better durability. Fixed the Mid strip, and fixed the pegs that were too tight. Printed it all out and its a nice big gun, and the pegs work well in reinforcing the weak spots at the joints.
Will get a display stand added soon.
