This remix adds twist-to-lock holders for common socket sizes.

  1. Print a rail
  2. Mock up the arrangement of sockets on the rail. Leave room for accessing the sockets to twist them locked/unlocked.
  3. Print socket holders and spacers that suit your layout
  4. Print one end stop for each rail.
  5. Slide each holder and spacer into your rail.
  6. Slide in the end stop and affix with an M3 bolt. Do not overtighten!

To install a socket, place it on the holder so that it just slides on with very little force. Twist it 45 degrees to lock into place. Reverse to remove.

I recommend printing the holders out of a material that can handle flex well, such as PETG. I did a lot of prototyping in PLA and its held up well for a long time so that seems to work ok, too. I recommend 0.2mm layers.

If you don't transport the sockets much, just leave them on the rail unlocked. Lock them in place for transport.
