I wanted to build a new little gadget for Halloween. After a fun brainstorming session with ChatGPT, the idea took shape: the “Ghost in the Coffee Cup.” 👻☕

The spooky mist drifting from the ghost’s eyes and mouth comes from my trusty Micro Mist Maker https://www.printables.com/model/1393526-baby-dragon-and-micro-mist-maker.
To give it an eerie glow, I slipped in a standard electronic tea light that lights up the ghost from the inside.
Everything runs happily on a regular 5 V USB charger or a power bank—so you can set it on your desk, the kitchen table, outside, or even take it with you to scare your friends.
The coffee “surface” is a separate piece that you print in black. It fits neatly into the cup, but here’s the trick: you need to orient it just right so the ghost can sit properly because the hole for the ghost is not centered. I fixed mine with a dab of glue—tip: use the ghost itself to align the holes before the glue sets.
And for maximum spooky-cool effect: print the ghost in a transparent material so the mist and light can dance through it.
I suggest to use the “lightning” infill for the cup and coffee surface to save material and time.
You do need supports for the cup, ghost, and holder.
