After taking a alternative Japanese Batik silk dyeing class, I wanted to continue making. I came up with an expandable frame with pegs for consistent pinning of silk handkerchiefs or scarves.
All pieces pressure fit, so start with test print. Frame still has a bit of wobble, but it seems really good
I had to print the main pieces (tester, corner, short and long) on their sides so that the opening did not droop
We just used regular sized rubber bands and safety pins
Begin with a test printing: 2x BatikTester, 1x BatikConnector, 4x Pegs
For a 300 mm inner square: 4x BatikCorner, 8x BatikConnector, 4x BatikLong-240mm, 72x BatikPeg
For a 72" (1800mm) scarf, use 8x BatikLong pieces on each side. May want to add 1x BatikShort-100.5mm to each side. So for an 8in or 11in wide scarf, that would be: 4x BatikCorner, 22x BatikConnector, 18x BatikLong-240mm, 306x BatikPeg
2025.09.09 - Added BatikCorner-60mmID for those who need larger interior space than original 30mmID corners gave. Can print all four corners or use two on alternate corners.
