In Explosive Ordnance Disposal we often have to move dangerous, explosive hazards remotely to keep ourselves safe. This is my personal solution to a multi-functioning rope reel that meets my need in my daily EOD work.
Features:
-Able to hold 200 feet of 3/8" Dyneema line/rope (pictured above)
-Compatible with 3/8" line as well as ½" tubular polypropylene/nylon/webbing
-Has a built in ruler from 0 - 125mm in 5mm increments (paint numbers after or use multicolor to help it standout)
-Very durable design (Use PETG or ABS for higher durability and UV protection)
-Small hole through the center to insert a mine probe or C-4 punch to spool out your line from your safe area like a pro!
-Ramps allow more rope to be held and makes it easier to pull the rope straight off the spool without spinning it.
Settings:
-Print flat with numbers/letters facing up
-Print in PETG or ABS (these are durable, UV resistant, and good for outdoor use)
-At least 3 walls
-At least 30% Gyroid
-(If you have a Markforged, use the fiber inlay to create an extremely strong version. This is most preferred for printing the tool ‘permanently’)
Saint Barbara is the patron saint of EOD Technicians. If that is not your cup of tea, I have also added some blank and more generic models in the STL files. Stay safe!
