6-shot disc shooter with improved lever

The famous disc shooter has three issues that this remix improves upon:

1. The last disc in the magazine has poor shooting performance because it is deflected by the lever. This is resolved by adding a disc-shaped lid to the end of the lever, ensuring all discs experience the same friction. The magazine was enlarged to make room for this lid.
2. To reload the lever must be held open, which is tricky without changing hand position. A spur is added to the lever to enable single-handely keeping the lever open without changing position.
3. Due to the angle of the rubber band, the lever opens (too) easily and discs fall out of the gun is shaken moderately. A second axis was added, which diverts the rubber band and increases its tension.

Print settings

The model was printed and tested with PLA and PETG using the settings for the original. PLA is stiffer and yields a less robust shooter with a harder trigger but stronger shots. PETG gives a more robust shooter with a smoother trigger, but shots are marginally weaker.

However, this is relevant mostly for the (unremixed) spring, discs and maybe trigger. The material of the remixed parts here does not matter. Please consult the original for print settings.

Assembly instructions

Generally, the same assembly instructions apply as for the original.

Ensure the rubber band goes under both (filament-)axes before connecting it to the lever.

Attach the lid to the tip of the lever using another piece of filament. The lid is NOT symmetric! Orient the lid such that the axis connects to the center of the lid when the magazine is full and then moves towards the front of the shooter as the lid is lowered into the magazine. Orient the lid such that the connectors are positioned more towards the front of the shooter.

Additional parts:

• Disc holder/lid at the end of the lever ensuring that all discs perform equally.

Modified parts:

• A filament-sized hole at the end of the lever was added to mount the disc holder.
• A spur was added to the lever for easier reloading.
• A second (filament-)axis improving the rubber tension/angle was added to the body.
• The magazine was slightly enlarged to make space for the disc holder.

To be used together with the discs, spring and trigger parts from the original model.
