I decided to replace the old and worn carrier straps on my bike with a lashing strap. While sacrificing a bit of convenience, I hope to gain more flexibility and durability with the lashing strap, as it is easily adjustable and has no elastic that will wear out eventually.
This model make use of universal stainless steel carrier strap mounting points. The body and the attachment hook are printed separately and should be put together by a simple insert and twist. The friction fit should be secure enough, add glue otherwise.
After the hook is inserted, you can attach the strap mounts to the universal carrier strap mounting points with a friction fit. Afterward, you can run your lashing strap through the slits.
The standard dimensions of the model are suited for a 25 mm or 1 Inch width lashing strap. The width of the slit for the lashing strap can be easily altered with OpenSCAD using the customizer window by selecting Window > Customizer.
The length of the lashing strap is up to you. I recommend a length of at least 2.5 m (8.2 foot) as shorter can't hold very much, but with a longer one you have a lot of excess to tuck away. You can always shorten the strap, but be sure to keep enough slack if you want to secure larger objects to your luggage carrier rack.
Print in original orientation for best part strength. No supports needed. The hook insert might benefit from the added bed adhesion of a brim.
