HexTrays are hexagonal trays that snap together with embedded magnets and are designed to hold your board game token while you play. There are two optional dividers that can be printed to split the tray in two or three so it can be adapted for use with any game. The trays are also designed to be lined with felt to leave a soft base for you tokens.
The provided STLs are for 12x2mm magnets, and 1mm thick felt. The Fusion 360 file is provided so it can be customized to your needs. The model is parametric, so just go into the “Change Parameters” menu to modify it as needed
The main tray should be printed and a pause should be inserted 3mm from the top (layer 126 with a layer height of 0.2mm). When the printer pauses, magnets should be inserted on each side, alternating the polarity. The filament can then be swapped to give an accent rim on the tray, or the print can be resumed for a solid color.
The divider inserts are recommended to be printed with a brim, and if you printed the tray with an accent rim, should have their color swapped the same distance down (3mm or layer 105 in 0.2mm layer height).
A stencil STL is provided that can be printed and used as a cutting guide for the felt to line the bottom of the trays. The felt should then be glued down to the bottom of the tray.
The author marked this model as their own original creation.
