This is a slimline case for the Unfolded Remote 3 that prints in 2 or more parts with no supports and is assembled with a friction fit. It's designed to be thin enough that you can still use a wireless charger.

There are 3 variants of the case:

  • V2 - The rigid version of the case with the thinnest profile, only available with the full case and not the split (requires wireless charging or removing the case)
  • TPU V1 Full - A flexible version of the case designed to be printed in TPU
  • TPU V1 Split - Same as above but with a split so you can remove a cap from the bottom for use in the dock

Printing V2

Print a top and bottom part, the flat faces of both parts should be down on the print bed.

Print Settings
  • PLA/PETG filament
  • 0.4mm nozzle and 0.2mm layer height (these are integral to the design and other sizes are untested)
  • No supports
  • Bambu Studio - Under Quality → Wall Generator → Set Arachne (this is because some of the walls are very thin and you will get missing layer issues otherwise)
Fitting the case

Place the remote in the bottom half of the case. Place the front half of the case on top and press down at the top of the remote to click it into place, press down the sides until you engage the lip all the way to the bottom edge.

Removing the case

You can pry apart the case on the long sides of the remote, it's easiest to use a plastic prying tool if you have one.

Printing TPU V1 (Full or Split)

You should follow the calibration instructions below to work out which tolerance you need. Not all size variations have been uploaded yet, please leave a comment if you need a specific version.

Using the TPU Print Settings below will make a big difference in the quality of the print, make sure you follow them.Using the TPU Print Settings below will make a big difference in the quality of the print, make sure you follow them.

For the Full version print the top and bottom halves of the case - the flat faces of both parts should be down on the print bed.

For the Split version print the upper and lower front/back pairs - the flat faces of both parts should be down on the print bed.

TPU Calibration

A set of calibration files are provided in the Calibration folder as you will need a version with different tolerances depending on the hardness of the TPU filament used.

There are a set of test prints so you do not waste filament. Unless your filament is already listed in the table, It's recommended to start in the bottom right of the TLS and TCF settings table below and work your way towards “Weakest Connection” if it's too hard to fit the halves together.

If you cannot get a good fit with any of these calibration sizes please leave a comment and I'll try to provide an appropriate version.

The settings TLS (TPU Lobe Size) and TCF (TPU Calibration Factor) are in the file names.

  • TLS determines how large the retaining lobe is and how hard it is to separate the halves (higher = stronger connection)
  • TCF determines how much tolerance there is for the connection slot for flexing (higher = better for less flexible filaments)

Print the calibration pieces with the slot/lobe facing upwards to match.

TPU Print Settings
  • TPU filament
  • 0.4mm nozzle and 0.2mm layer height
  • No supports
  • Set Perimeters (or Wall Loops in Bambu Studio) to 6 to ensure a good finish and friction fit
  • Print each part individually (or use sequential printing) - the frequent retractions with moving between multiple parts with TPU can make a stringy mess
  • Bambu Studio - Under Quality → Wall Generator → Set Arachne (this is because some of the walls are very thin and you will get missing layer issues otherwise)
  • Recommended: Dry your TPU filament
Fitting the TPU case

It's recommended to connect the TPU pieces together without the remote the first time to ensure it has a good fit all the way around the seam. When you put it on the remote you will need to squeeze the case halves together at the edge and work around the perimeter in a loop.

Version History
  • TPU V1
    • Added a final V1 release of the TPU case with calibration files and print instructions
  • V2
    • Increased wall thickness of thin walls (hopefully fixes issues slicing in Bambu Studio)
    • Added small round to front and back edges for comfort
    • Improved split location for IR window and slightly increased the IR cutout size
    • Added no_ir version if you do not want the IR window cutout
  • TPU Experimental
    • Add a version with thicker sides and larger friction fit for testing. Recommend 90A plus TPU
    • Measures 203.7mm x 50.4mm x 10.6mm but may be larger once stretched slightly over the remote
