Description

PDF

This is a parametric socket-style riser/extension for tables, chairs, or other furniture with cylindrical legs only.

It allows you to increase the height of furniture while keeping the legs safely locked into a socket.

Parameters

  • raise_height (mm): The solid bottom thickness = how much you lift the furniture.
  • socket_depth (mm): How deep the furniture leg sits inside the riser (insertion length).
  • leg_diameter (mm): The diameter of the cylindrical furniture leg that goes inside the socket.
  • clearance (mm): Extra tolerance to ensure the leg fits (0.2–0.4 mm recommended for a well-calibrated printer).
  • contour_wall_thickness (mm): The thickness of the outer shell around the socket.

Printing recommendations

  • Material: PLA.
  • Walls/Perimeters: 4–5 (at least 1.6–2 mm).
  • Top/Bottom Layers: 5–6.
  • Infill pattern: Cubic or Gyroid.
  • Print orientation: flat on the base.

Infill recommendations

The required infill depends on how much weight the risers will support.

Assuming 4 cylindrical legs and 60 mm diameter risers:

Total furniture weightLoad per legRecommended infillNotes
Up to 100 kg~25 kg20–25% infillEnough for chairs or light tables
Up to 200 kg~50 kg30–35% infillBalanced strength and material use
Up to 250 kg~62.5 kg35–40% infillSafe for heavy tables/desks
300 kg+ (max stress)~75 kg+45–50% infillUse PETG/ASA, add 5–6 walls

⚠ Note: Increasing infill beyond 50% does not significantly improve compression strength.

The walls and bottom thickness are more important for structural integrity.
