Description

PDF

This is a 3x6 Gridfinity baseplate that attaches to two unused screw holes at the rear of the stock top cover of the Prusa Core One.

This is remixed from what is, in my opinion, the best Gridfinity baseplate, @KyleWarren's https://www.printables.com/model/300603-gridfinity-screw-together-baseplate

Can be expanded to a 6x6 baseplate by adding (2) 3x3 baseplates from link link above!

A Warning Before You Begin

Most of the weight of this baseplate (and, in turn, the things you put on the baseplate) is supported by the top cover. The cover is not made of the strongest or most rigid material, please be sensible with how much weight you add to avoid damage.

Parts Needed

  • (2) M3 screws, between 8mm and 12mm in length
  • (2 [for 3x6] or 8 [for 6x6]) sets of hardware to attach baseplates together
    • There are quite a few options here:
      • M3x12 screws and nuts through the middle of the three attachment holes (what the author used)
      • M3 screws and M3 heat-set inserts though the top/bottom of the three attachment holes (see link above for details on how to use these)
      • Dowels/clips/etc through the middle of the three attachment holes (search Printables for options here)

Recommended Print Settings

  • 0.4mm nozzle
  • 0.20mm STRUCTURAL
  • PLA
  • 20% infill

Printing & Assembly

  1. Print (1) Gridfinity Core One Back Left
  2. Print (1) Gridfinity Core One Back Right
  3. Optionally, if you want to have a 6x6 baseplate, print (2) GRIDFINITY-BASE-REV2-3X3 from the link above
  4. Attach the baseplates together at the locations indicated by the red arrows in the included photo
  5. Screw in the (2) M3 screws at the locations indicated by the blue arrows in the included photo
  6. Place the completed baseplate on top of your printer, slotting the screws through the matching holes at the rear of the top cover
    1. You can secure these screws on the inside of the printer with nuts, if you wish, but, in my testing, it holds quite firm without them, and leaving the screws unsecured makes it easier to remove the top cover
