I discovered a mobile charger that could tolerate 12-24V, thus saving me the expense of a buck converter. It works great. Just don't plug anything else into it that only wants 12V. No on/off switch, I just unplug it from the battery when not needed.

I intend to make more devices (like a large lantern) based on this adapter. Many thanks to the original designer. i used parts he recommended so look there for links to battery springs and sockets. The battery springs are fiddly and want to be in the exact right spot. Requires finesse the first time you pop a battery into it.

Print in the orientation provided (big hole facing up) and enable the experimental Cura feature of \"make overhangs printable\" and you won't need support.
