Book Dice Tower that looks like a chunky old book. Drop a d20 in the top, listen to the clatter, and stash your set in the built-in compartment when you’re done. Prints in two parts: the Shell (book cover) and the Insides (tower insert with ramps). The shell has a shaped cavity so the insert sits snug and secure. All STLs are pre-oriented just slice and go.

Print tips:

Shell (book cover)

• Material: print this in PETG or PLA+. It needs a tiny bit of flex when the insert slides in; regular PLA can be brittle for that.

• Supports: optional. It’ll print either way; skipping supports may mean a little cleanup inside.

• Infill: 15% gyroid works great.

• Layer height: 0.2 mm.

• Perimeters: 3 or more for a solid feel.

Insides (tower insert)

• Material: PLA/PLA+ or PETG.

• Supports: yes (for the internal ramps).

• Infill: 15% works. I also tried Lightning infill on a few prototypes and it worked fine.

• Layer height: 0.2 mm.

Fit and calibration:

• The designed clearance between Shell and Insides is 0.2 mm. Depending on your machine, you might need a touch of calibration to get that smooth slide fit.

• Too tight? In your slicer, try Horizontal Expansion/XY Size Compensation at −0.1 to −0.2 mm on the Insides, or do a quick sand on the mating faces.

• The top entry is sized for a standard d20.

Assembly:

• Slide the Insides into the Shell until the chute lines up. It’s a friction fit thanks to the keyed cavity; add a tiny drop of glue if you want it permanent.

Post-print cleanup:

• Knock off any zits/strings, then lightly sand the chute and entry hole for buttery rolls.

• If you printed the Shell without supports, expect a bit more cleanup on the interior edges.

Heads-up / known issues:

• I’ve seen some layer shifting on the Shell on one printer. If you solve it, please drop your fix in the comments. This may be caused by the fact that the embossed image is embossed by 0.5 mm but im not shure.

Things to try: slow outer walls, lower acceleration/jerk, check belt tension and pulley grub screws, make sure axes move smoothly.

Have fun, and I’d love to see your makes and slicer settings!
