PDF

This ZWO EAF Adapter for the Takahashi E-200 allows simple integration of the ZWO Electronic Automatic Focuser with your telescope, providing precise and motorized focusing without significant modification of the stock focuser assembly.

Key Features

  • Full Rotator Clearance – Designed to clear the stock rotator lock in all positions.
  • Direct Replacement – Replaces the factory focuser cover and mounts securely to the pinion support using a washer and a single M4 socket head cap screw.
  • Pulley Compatibility – Accepts focuser pulleys with hubs under 19 mm in diameter and 8 mm in length.

Printing Notes

  • Orientation: To avoid supports print with the open face positioned against the print bed.
  • Recommended Material: PETG, ASA, or similar
  • Suggested Infill: ≥ 50%
  • Layer Height: 0.20 mm

Installation Notes

  1. Check for Gear Clearance
    • After mounting the adapter, visually inspect the area around the focuser gears to ensure the M4 mounting screw does not contact or interfere with any moving components.
    • Slowly rotate the focuser knob by hand and observe the gear movement. Any interference can lead to gear wear or permanent damage. If interference is detected, stop immediately and adjust the adapter’s position or use a shorter screw.
  2. Avoid Overtightening
    • Tighten all screws only to the point where the adapter is firmly secured without shifting. Excessive torque can strip threads in the pinion support, deform the adapter, or cause alignment issues.
  3. Verify Smooth Focuser Operation
    • Once installation is complete, manually operate the focuser through its full travel range. Movement should be smooth and free of resistance, binding, or grinding noises.
    • Test both manual and EAF-driven focusing to confirm proper operation.
    • If motion feels rough or obstructed, stop immediately and re-check the mounting alignment and screw clearance.
