Description

PDF

This is a set of custom tiles that slot into the front panel of the Framework Desktop computer (https://frame.work/desktop).

The design files at https://github.com/FrameworkComputer/Framework-Desktop were referenced for dimensions and fit, but I made some changes to the attachment mechanics and other dimensions to better suite 3D printing. The friction fit could be improved with some design iteration, so I've shared my own design files to make remixing and referencing the design easier for others.

Notes on printing

  • The STL files are exported face-up to make them easier to differentiate but I recommend printing them face-down, without supports. This will involve some bridging.
  • Some tile are designed to be printed with a layer height of 0.20mm and with a height-based color change at 0.80mm and again at 1.60mm. I don't have a MMU to design/test for that configuration, but it would make some designs easier.

Included designs

NameDetails
basePlain square tile with no details on the surface. Nice for testing the fit, printing in transparent PETG, drawing on top of, or for remixing into a your own design.
slats horizontalHorizontal lines, similar to the official tiles.
slats diagonalDiagonal lines, similar to the official tiles.
latticeA lattice with crossing horizontal lines, great for a color change print.
lattice diagonalA lattice with crossing diagonal lines, great for a color change print.
trianglesA triangle pattern.
spiralTwo spirals with different heights, can be multicolor with a height color change. Difficult to print - use supports and remove them carefully. Try printing face down or face up.
