Rocket versus soda can

Some things make you think !

This should have been a can holder for the can holder contest - targeted to add a better grip to a soda can and add a little funny twist. 

So I began to think…..and made the most out of it.

The concept (third picture) is not only to provide a better grip - but also to add some function like keeping your drink cool and protect it from insects when its standing on a table.

1 - better gip: the diameter is enlarged so the surface which is in contact with your fingers is larger thus you can apply a better grip - additionale the wings can be used as handles

2-cooling: I added a air gap insulation (blue on the third picture) since air is not the best heat conductor -  i was not totally sure of if that really works - so I decided to measure it in a back to back comparison can standing on a table versus can beeing contained inside the rocket. Here i learned something  ..  and this is that is not so easy to measure something -  see also the measurements on the fourth picture. The problem is the rocket was not cooled before - and furthermore for measurement i had to take the can out of the rocket so warm air came in  - which blurs the results. Aanyway - the colored lines are measured on the top of the can - here you see that there ist stays significantly cooler over time.  On the jacket measured the can inside the rocket shows a opposite behaviour - i think that is simply because the shell was warm in the beginning --thats why i would recommend to cool the rocket before sliding the can in !

3- The Rocket TOP is a cap thats protects the opened can from insects - its a wasp shield.

Further use ideas

A- A lamp - see Fotos - i had only a quite long flash light - but it shows the principle - print it out of a transparent filament and put an LED light in it - it will light up beautifully

B-It could be used as a rocket to play with - put litte figures in it an fly them to the moon

C-Paint it - its fun and thus you can add your own creative touch to it

D-use it as a giftwrap if you have a gift for someone - dont forget to put a gift bow around it.
