A hive entrance reducer block that enables bees to defend the hive against predators. Slides to adjust between the two common entrance widths (205cm to 225cm).
Both components will fit on a Core One bed at an angle. Corner adhesion and simple supports for the slot and bar. are recommended Standard settings in Easyprint work fine. Make sure the objects are flat on the bed. Slot and bar are initially a snug fit once cleared of support material but will loosen after a few fittings.
The component blocks are as aligned as I can get them using Tinkercad. Happy to share the model if someone wants to remake using a more accurate tool.
I recommend printing in something UV resistant, and a neutral colour.
It turns out I was correct on colour. Dark colours in PLA will absorb heat and the bar will buckle. The second image shows a dark blue version that has warped with heat. This was oriented with the small entry in use so the thinner section of the large entry was exposed to the sun and warped outwards.
The light colour blocks show no signs of similar warping.
I have added new files where the entry holes are in the centre of the block. This should prevent similar failure.
