This is my attempt at a budget washing curing solution for resin printing.

This is remixed from Gork's model over on Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2867926). You can grab the f3d files from there if you want to mess around with the parameters for your own remix.

My design has several differentiating features:

  • Designed to fit inside an Ikea 365+ 1.4L tub (https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/ikea-365-food-container-with-lid-square-plastic-s69269109)
  • Added feet to the basket for use with magnetic stirrers
  • Added a hook so you can rest the basket on top of the tub when draining excess resin

Prototype has been printed out of PLA+ using supports. For actual operational models, it is suggested you print out of an IPA resistant filament such as PETG.

If you wanted to create the full budget washing/curing system:

Materials required:

  • 3x Ikea 365+ 1.4L tubs
  • 1x Printed Resin Wash Basket Insert
  • UV LED strip lights + power source

Washing/Curing Process:

  • Fill tub 1 IPA and dunk/wash your print
  • Fill tub 2 with fresh IPA and dunk/wash the print again
  • Place the print in tub 3 and cure with your LEDs as needed

Additional info:

  • Tub 1 and 2 are washing/dunking tanks filled with IPA
  • Tub 3 is the curing tank
  • For Tub 3 you will require UV LED strip lighting placed in a spiral pattern around the internal sides (potentially also a mirror on the top and bottom)
