This is a custom model of the armor capsules from the SNES Rockman games. The model is 100% color separated for easy assembly. My print is the default blue but it can also be printed in red/pink from X3 if desired. Some optional parts can also be used to customize it a little to your preference.
This is the third display capsule project I have completed. It is made to scale with the PSX Armor Capsule https://www.printables.com/model/1340767-psx-armor-capsule-for-rockman-x-mega-man-kotobukiy
And the X7 Armor Capsule https://www.printables.com/model/1350080-x7-armor-capsule-for-rockman-x-mega-man-kotobukiya
And the X8 Armor Capsule https://www.printables.com/model/1385770-x8ihx-armor-capsule-for-rockman-x-mega-man-kotobuk
Four pieces of translucent acrylic 5/32" diameter 8" long dowel. Longer dowels can be used if you want a little more clearance. (In fact, there is barely clearance to pose with default clearance, another half inch or so of dowel might help for dynamic poses, but the scaling will be off)
OPTIONAL Some glue might be required
Screw Driver or 16mm Socket Driver with extension
If you opt to use the Energy Stand as part of your display, you might need to trim the end just a little. It was designed to be an ideal fit, mine did not sit quite right and I had to sand it down a little to fit into the bottom.
This is one of the armor capsules we have good art reference for, so I tried my best to duplicate it as close as possible. If you look carefully at the art, the emitter parts have two separate shades of gold. So for my model, I printed one of those in gold and the other in white and just airbrushed it gold for the same effect. But you can print in two colors if you have them.
On both the upper and bottom half's there are silver "vents". It always looks black in the center, so I added parts to build it on one of three optional configurations: 1.) You can print the vents with no additional parts; 2.) There is a gem you can install; 3.) Use the alternate flat "cap" part.
Both the bottom and upper halves have placeholders to put LED circuit boards in if you wish. I have not finished the electronics design myself, it is on my agenda I just haven't had an urge to do it yet. In all honesty, for this one, it might be easier to just use electronics in the upper half. If I ever get that done, I will rev that as a version 2.0 because I might make the upper red orb piece a push button. Or something like that.
If you build one, please post a make. I would love to see how they turn out.
20250904 - Replaced E3 file with updated version to fix a bit of an overlap in the model. If it still hangs up, trimming the part slightly with a hobby knife will allow it to fit without having to re-print the part.
20250905 - Modified E3 again to remove a hair gap. My bad. Also, added an alternative to the energy stand, E4, which is E3 split in half with additional quick connects. It's now possible to assemble the capsule with the dowel rods and use two E4's to snap in around the model.
