Have you ever looked at a product and been like “wow I know what I need to do”? That was me and holding this device in my hands. Maybe it called out to me beforehand. Maybe it was simply a foregone conclusion when the mad lads of Ubiquiti made a little dome of an access point. Who knows. But 15 minutes of design and 3 hours of printing later we have a tractor beam for our access point.
Features
- Twist “lock” attachment: it twists into place. It's not that tight of a fit so I can't legally consider it a lock but the weight of the unit keeps it in place. This also means you can lift it with the beam to align cables or lights
- Cable routing holes: holes for the cables. Actual model is better aligned than in the photos because I mirrored my reference photo but did not want to reprint it
- Immaculate vibes
Notes from the author
- The longer I look at it the more I fw the infill lines. Obviously you don't have to do that, any circular pattern will realize you don't actually need infill for the main part of it
- The light is a surprisingly bright display cabinet light I got from Ikea many years ago, anything of that style should suffice
- The filament is a slightly translucent green from Geetech that I don't see offered anymore.
- The author is bummed it doesn't match the aesthetic of the rest of my models but I do not want to deny the world a truncated cone and honestly I was a little disappointed at the range of goofy mounts for these things
