A simple Geocache gadget hide: Take the perch, and use the magnet to drag the container through the birdhouse. To reset, simply do that in reverse.
Important printing information: PLEASE READ PRIOR TO PRINTING
- The birdhouse, perch, and containers all have pauses so you can insert a 10x3mm circular magnet into the cache.
- You can either print the birdhouse upright – in which case, add supports JUST for the roof-- or you can print the birdhouse laying on its back (preferred), supports on build plate only.
- For the birdhouse magnet insert (plate 1), add a pause to your print just as the small hole for the magnet is about to get covered. You may need to use a bit of glue (a glue stick works) to keep the magnet in place.
- For the Perch (plate 2), add a pause just as the compartment for the magnets is about to get covered. Please insert 3-5 magnets to maximize their strength
- For the container (plate 3), add a pause just as the hole for the magnets is about to get covered. Use two total magnets, one for each half.
- When inserting magnets, please note their orientation: The perch must be attracted towards both the magnet in the birdhouse, as well as BOTH magnets on the container. If you mess up the orientation, just reprint the perch / small container.
- TPU ring is optional.
I printed the birdhouse and perch with PETG, the containers with PLA, and the ring with TPU. In the photo, I accidentally enabled ironing for the PETG, that is why you see those weird patterns. Do not enable ironing for PETG.
If you do end up hiding, please credit OnlineGuy (me) for the 3D model. Also, DM me or comment below! I'd love to hear about it.
