Video walks through suggested steps for making your own mold box, mold and castings. The downloadable Fusion 360 file lets you customize dimensions and tweak the design as needed.

Methods

  1. Print the baseplate form

    •  Choose your desired grid size

    • PLA reccomended

  2. Print the walls

    • make sure they fit the chosen baseplate

    •  PLA is fine, I prefer PVB with a quick spritz of IPA smoothing on the interior for easier demolding

  3. Smooth baseplate

    • Optional, but highly reccomended for smooth castings

    • Alternating rounds of filler primer spray and sanding with finer and finer grits

  4. Assemble mold box

    • Painters tape is quick and easy

    • Hot melt glue works too

  5. Pour silicone into mold box

    • Make sure you do this on a level surface

    • I like Mold Star 30, many other silicones will work

    • Follow manufactures instructions for pot life and cure times

  6. Demold

    • Remove tape/glue and take off the walls

    • Pop baseplate master form out of the mold

  7. CastFinity!

    • Jesmonite AC100 used in the video (Aqua Resin is similar)

    • Cement (e.g. Cement All)

    • Resin

    • Plaster

    • Silicone (use mold release!)

    • Metal?!
