I had a couple of A-101 Dekatrons that I wanted to use for a project, and set out trying to source some suitable PL30-2P sockets for them. Unfortunately it seems that these sockets have become unobtainium, as I've been unable to find anyone selling any.
To solve this problem, I decided to design my own.
This design utilises the widely available KK 396 Molex crimp contacts (I bought some here from DigiKey), which lock into place in the model quite nicely. The contacts also give a good firm grip when the Dekatron is inserted.
Compatible with:
I printed these right side up with supports, as I found this to give the best finish.
I used PETG, but PLA will work just fine!
Make sure to crimp the contacts before inserting them into the model, as they don't come out easily once they're in there.
I'm planning on eventually designing some similar sockets suitable for IN-12/IN-15/IV-22 nixie tubes, as well as for IN-1 nixies
