This project has 2 options both require a 20mm (or about 3/4") long M8 X 1 pitch bolt. But one utilizes a button head bolt while the other a hex head.
Button head design: Here the bolt threads into the knob itself until it bottoms out. Then the knob can be threaded onto the belt grinder.
Hex head design: Here the hex head inserts into the hex pocket in the knob and does not thread into the knob at all. It should take some force to insert the bolt to keep it from falling out. Then the knob can be threaded onto the belt ginder.
I made the button head for myself because I had a bolt on hand but the hex head is more common and recommended version.
