I've come up with this design mainly inspired by MadP 3D's painting holder. I wanted to make it able to rotate so I've basically joined the bottle cap to a scaled-up version of Meister Edel's toothed bearing and used a cut-up version of Concealed45's screwdriver handle for better grip. It took some time to find the right proportions. I did my best so that the whole thumb can rest in the rotating bit to avoid irritating the skin with friction.
You can print the whole thing in 2 parts that snap together. I recommend losening up the bearing before snaping it on the handle to make sure it's rotating properly. Glue is optional but recomended to keep the inner part of the bearing connected to the handle. Any superglue should do the trick. If you chose to glue it, make sure you're only gluing the inner part and is pressing the inner part of the bearing against the handle to make sure the socket pin is all the way in. Try rotating the bearing while doing so to make sure you're not gluing the outer part.
I'm also making avaiable alternative parts if you wish to glue it to a different handle or to use a different bearing. There are also covered versions of the bottlecaps that in theory would provide protection for the bearings but in practice make it harder to properly glue the whole thing to the handle. If you want this protection, I suggest you to print the bearing without the bottlecap, glue it to the handle, and only after that you glue the flat-bottom version of the bottlecap over the bearing's outer shell.
I guess that's all. Let me know if you guys end up printing any of that!
The author remixed this model.
I've used part of the screwdriver handle, the screw part from the holder and a scaled-up version of the bearings.
