A joint for attaching two rods at right angles. Designed for a retort stand, but could be used anywhere you need to join two rods.

The body part comes in different sizes to suit different diameter rods. To make a complete joint you will need:

  • Joint body to suit the vertical rod
  • Joint body to suit the horizontal rod
  • Two knobs
  • Four M3 x 6mm socket head machine screws

Print the parts with the flat side down. No support is needed. Screw the two bodies together. The screws should be a clearance fit through one body and self-tap into the other. Screw the knobs on loosely, slip over the rods, then tighten the knobs to secure.

There are body parts to suit metric rods from 6mm to 12mm, and imperial sizes 1/4in, 3/8in and 1/2in.

The example in the first picture is joining a 1/2in upright to a 3/8in horizontal. They were printed with AMZ3D orange PLA for the knobs and Prusa silver PLA for the bodies.
