Original design by rpgweb was very innovative, but had a few design flaws - primarily the “clamp” design that was very hard to assemble and was very easy to break. This remix uses a hexagonal core with a very slight “bite” at the top which allows for an easy to assemble one-way friction fit.
Additionally, the original design had squared off slots on the top to hold the cardboard cutouts. This created sharp seems at the edges, which would damage the cardboard. This design uses rounded shapes to create the slots so the cardboard is much less likely to be damaged.
Last major change was reconfiguring the arm design for the “click” mechanism so that it had similar performance in both the clockwise and counterclockwise direction.
