This air duct redirects the air of the cars air conditioning system onto the infotainment display of your vw polo.
I got the idea for this part, when I touched the display during a bright summer day after an hour of driving. The display got too hot to comfortably swipe my fingers across. After installing the air duct it is now very pleasant to use.
Compatibility
Designed for vw polo from 2018. Should also work with current models of this car and across similar brands by vw (like Seat), as long as the Ventilation System looks similar.
Installation
The air duct is simply clipped onto the existing air vent and no permanent modifications are required.
Assembly
You will need:
Name | Quantity |
air duct (printed part) | 1 |
clip (printed part) | 2 |
M3 x 10mm Countersunk Head Screw | 4 |
M3 threaded insert (I used inserts by ruthex) | 4 |
Press the inserts into the clips using a soldering iron and then screw the clips to the air duct.
Should you wish to use a different fastening method, feel free to modify the parts by using the .step file I have included.
Filament Material Guide
This part will get hot. Please use a heat resistend material. I used ABS-GF, which may not be a suitable material for your printer. I think PLA-HT by Polymaker may work well for this application.
Notes
The clips are seperate parts because they need a specific orietation to print with sufficient strength. Please keep this in mind when arranging the parts manually.
I recommend 4 wall loops when using a 0.4mm nozzle. Especially for the clips, since the threaded inserts need at least 1.6mm of wall thickness to work properly
