I was frustrated with the camera quality of the stock camera in the Creality Hi, as are many others.
I have had wonderful experience in the past with Nebula Cameras and I discovered it works with the Hi without any modifications. The best part is you can find Nebula Cameras on eBay for ~$20 shipped!

If you like this camera and mount, I PLEASE ASK YOU to contact Creality Support and express your frustration of them removing the AI detection features due to the poor quality of the inbuilt camera. With a Nebula Camera, quality is vastly improved over stock and AI detection should work without any issues. Lets get them to give us back this functionality!
I have the Nebula Camera on other printers and they are very good, and accurate with detections. There is no reason for them not be able to add this back onto the printer with a firmware update.
Let get this changed! It will be a community effort to get these features back.
