F’Deem is a 3D Printable Pony-Inhabited Building System!

What's different to what I'm used to?

Instead of low-poly mass-uploaded LDraw files that don't print well, F'Deem is made from scratch, resized, and has connections reliable for printing.

  • Scaled up 1.5x compared to other bricks for reliability (and to resemble how relatively big bricks were as a kid). Bricks are also taller so 2x2 pieces can be perfect cubes. This means bricks are now 4 plates tall.
  • Bottoms of bricks now have higher surface area for great bed adhesion, alongside much shallower holes- so bricks are mostly just infill. Holes also curve into a tighter section for easy positioning and a strong clutch that can still be pulled apart easily.
  • High poly models meant for up-scaling to any size you want!
  • No need for multi-color printing, designs are now etched into the brick to prevent waste and speed up printing your bricks!
  • Fully open-sourced .blend files (on website) for easy remixing!
  • Ponies!

Print Settings?

  • Most basic bricks should be fPonies!ine at 0.2mm height, though of course print at 0.1mm when wanting smooth curves or ramps. Ponies, accessories, and more complex pieces should be at 0.1mm, especially anything with a peg connection.
  • Clutch power is directly correlated to the volume of plastic around any hole. All pieces are designed around 20% infill (Gyroid Shape), though any standard bricks (especially wider ones where amount of clutch points are plenty) can likely get away with 15%.
  • Some bricks may require manually placed minimal supports or brims to print. Lots of auto-generated supports may interfere with connection points.
  • Some bricks may also need to be printed on their side (Pony pieces, flag stripe piece, etc.), but be aware that any rotated prints will have much tighter connections. Intended pieces are designed around this but not all.

F'Deem Website

wiki.f-deem.org includes a better piece-browsing experience with full renders and proper grouping, alongside a dedicated forum for piece news and anything you want to post!

A Different Design Language

F'Deem isn't just a copy of store-bought bricks, many pieces are wholly unique with their own features, such as alphanumeric pieces with a font for each side, flag stripes that can combine into any number of flag designs, dice pieces that still connect to the system, and storage containers for sets and pieces.
