Mostly Harmless Abduction is a fun and unique 3D lightbox artwork featuring a cow being abducted by a UFO under a peaceful night sky. Perfect for adding a touch of whimsy and soft backlighting to your home, office, or bookshelf.

This Model features two options for the UFO and abducted cow (both shown in the pictures).

UFO_transparent_material is intended to be used with a transparent or translucent material as baselayer.

UFO_nontrans_material is for nontransparent materials.

Print Settings:

0.25 mm brass nozzle at 75% scale (0.4 mm might be fine for a full size print)

Variable layer height

100% infill

No supports or brim needed

Materials Used:

PolyTerra PLA – Cotton White

PolyTerra PLA – Charcoal Black

Bambu Lab PLA – Translucent Blue

Giantarm Transparent PLA (for transparent UFO 4a)

For the hull please refer to my rework of tecnoculebras lightbox:

Notes & Tips:
I used color changes at specific layers (UFO, Farm1 and Farm2) to add contrast — it really helps bring out the scene! No post-processing was done here.

Just a heads-up: the parts are quite thin, so be gentle when removing them from the print bed — they can warp or lose shape if bent.

Also, double-check your flow rate. If it’s too low, small gaps or holes can appear in the layers, and these will really show through when the light is on behind the print.

The artwork is based on an AI-generated concept, but has been completely reworked and fully modeled by me.

And yes, this is inspired by a certain anime <3.
