Settings for PrusaSlicer

  • Layer Height: 0.1 mm (Print Settings → Layers and Perimeters  → Layer Height) – For maximum strength and detail.
  • Infill: at least 30% (Print Settings → Infill → Fill Density) – Ensures strong, durable prints.
  • Support: Support on Build Plate only (Print Settings → Support Material → Support on Build Plate only) - Improves bed adhesion while still allowing the support to be removed easily.
    • Overhang Threshold: 30° (Print Settings → Support Material → Overhang Threshold)
    • First Layer Density: 15% (Print Settings → Support Material → First Layer Density)
  • Extrusion Multiplier: 0.93 (Filaments → Filament) – Prevents threads from being too tight.
  • Max Print Speed: 100 mm/s (Print Settings → Speed → Auto Speed (advanced)) – Improves results with fine threads.
  • Fill Pattern: Gyroid (Print Settings → Infill) – Provides strength in all directions, prints efficiently, and saves material.

Best Filaments for Functional Nuts

For most functional printed nuts, PETG offers the best balance between printability, strength, and durability. It is less brittle than PLA and easier to print than ABS or Nylon, making it ideal for threads that will be used repeatedly or under moderate stress. If you need maximum strength and your setup allows, Nylon or ABS are excellent alternatives. However, you will need an enclosure for printing with Nylon or ABS.

I’m really happy to see your makes and hear your feedback on these nuts.
