If you don't have a tailgate standoff bracket in your camper you should, and if you do you really need somewhere to stow it where it's not going to rattle and it's readily available.

This stowage pocket is printed in two pieces so you always have a nice side facing out, needs no support, and keeps the bracket snug with no rattles.  We've tested it over 10,000 kilometres of some of the roughest roads in Australia and it works “as advertised”.

If you have a bracket that's a slightly different size (the clear opening on this is 33.5mm wide by 4mm deep ) please let me know and, subject to my availability I'll happily change it to suit your circumstance.
