Update: I have changed the CC license of my models because of the lack of clarity around AI use. If you want to re-mix, reuse, rewhatever my model, just ask..

Remix Information:

This monster is a supportless and thematic remix of 'Blood Elemental - Water Elemental' by thenurge  from Thingverse:  https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4880302 , who's model was a remix of JBoned's ‘Marid Water elemental genie’ https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4629372.

I remixed the model so that it would:

  • no longer require supports,
  • fit the pit snatcher thematic,
  • so that it would be more resilient for tabletop use (no more tiny unsupported fingers), and
  • so that it would fit to the standard tabletop battlemap (25mm base for med).

Description:

I created this model based on the remix as noted about for my dark sun game.

About the Pit Snatcher:

"Pit snatchers are creatures that dwell in the tar pits of Athas. Some sages believe that the tar pits that give birth to the snatchers are not natural, but were formed by defiling magic so intense that the very earth erupted in noxious boils of smoking black goo. There may be some truth to this, for those areas inhabited by the snatchers are much hotter, smokier, and fouler than a few found elsewhere beneath the crimson sun."

 - City by the Silt Sea

The pit snatcher only appears as a monster in the 2E City by the Silt Sea Monstrous Supplement. So obviously they needed to make it into my game. The drawing from the 2E book is minimal (as shown above) so I based the model on their general description. Black tar creatures that could be interpreted as corrupted elementals.

Alternate Uses:

They could also be great swamp monsters, poison monsters, blood elementals, magma creatures, or other oozing boiling, bubbling nasties.

Printing Comments:

The prints I do are with a 0.25mm nozzle. I typically print at 0.05-0.07 static layer height or variable layer height depending on the model. The prints in the photos above were at 0.07 layer height. The black print was done using Prusa Jet Black PLA.

Model Options:

I have uploaded both a medium sized and large sized variant. For my game, I used both.

Enjoy
