Fishing Rod Holder
This is a simple mounting bracket I came up with to hold fishing rods up and out of the way in my Rivian R1S. I use coat hanger hooks by @raylepper to hold the front of the rods and then this mount holds the reel side. The features I was going for:
- I wanted a way to keep them up and out of the way.
- The upper mount location matches the grab handle height so the rod rests level.
- The lower mount location is low enough that a long handle on a rod will rest below the headliner in the rear (near the back window).
- I wanted the option to store full rods without having to break them down.
- The picture shows my 8.5 foot long fly rod as an example for the length it can support, though the tip does bend down and rest on the front windshield.
- I wanted to easily transport up to 4 rods. Using one of these on each side does that.
- Small hooks let you use rubber bands or hair ties or something to hold the rods in place.
It does hang entirely from the headliner, so I wouldn't put too much weight on these, but a couple fishing poles seems perfectly fine.
Printing
- I suggest a high-heat-resistant material like ASA. I'm currently testing with PETG, but I know from experience that if this sits in a hot car the PETG will eventually deform with the weight. If the hooks deform it'll likely just fall off the headliner.
- Any nozzle/layer height you want. I used 0.4mm nozzle/0.20 layers.
- Perimeters: 4+
- Make sure it's nearly solid.
