For added durability, feel, and to prevent delamination I strongly suggest you reflow the surface of the Flex Strap with a heatgun (hair dryer on max might not be hot enough). Doing so will greatly increase the longevity of the strap and make it easier to hook into itself.

It should end up looking similar to the below image.
