Printing transparent or semi-transparent filaments over each other is a great way to produce new colors, or - when layered over an opaque filament - to produce lighter or darker shades.
The color lithophane process uses this method (see Hueforge here for example: https://shop.thehueforge.com/blogs/news/what-is-hueforge )
For those of us looking to produce subtle color changes over more complex shapes, we have to evaluate the transmissivity of the filaments we are using for ourselves.
These cards are helpful for showing for any given filament how layering affects light transmission and thus, the color you see.
They are also helpful for evaluating depth of color produced by home filament dye processes (see thread here, for example: https://forum.prusa3d.com/forum/postid/746212/ )

NOTE: with the latest Prusa slicer versions, you can vary the layer height in the slicer, and experiment with different color combinations)
Slicer files are for PETG, but you can use any material you like.
It's especially cool with PVB! Not only can you see the transmissivity of the base material without smoothing, but you can print comparison cards to show transmissivity with smoothing.
