aka “Greg's Awesome Carrera Wireless Plus Handle Adapter!”

NO HARDWARE REQUIRED!  NO DAMAGE TO THE CONTROLLER!

Simply remove the flexible side inserts and the plunger thumb pad, choose your trigger style, and snap it all together! Or, use the OEM screws to hold the controller to the side panel of the adapter. The new Universal version uses a single zip tie!

Easy to disassemble with slots for a screwdriver to help pop the halves apart!

Print in your driver/station colors!

Note that the two halves of the handle should be printed with a low density, or support/lightning infill in order to reduce weight that may cause it to fall over. They can be printed on the outer surface with no supports, but the smooth curves will probably not be very smooth. If you print them on the inside surface, you will need to add supports for the trigger area and the side panels. The downside to that orientation is that the supported surfaces won't be as clean unless you have a fancy printer that can do soluble style supports.

It may be helpful to add some plastic safe grease, such as silicone SuperLube, to the surfaces that rub together, such as the trigger area. At the very least, this can reduce squeaking noises. Also, depending on the quality of the print, the controller may not be firmly clamped in. In those cases, a simple rubber band or zip tie around the “wings” and controller should do the trick. See the last photo for an example. There is also a handle version with screw holes so that you can use the OEM screws to hold the controller in the adapter more securely.

Update 2025/06/23

  • Added a “Universal” adapter. Using a zip tie, most controller versions can work well with this version. Make sure the controller is vertical (seam of controller lines up with seam of adapter) and cinch the zip tie nice and tight with some pliers or something. Two zip ties in a “V” will work even better.

Update 2025/06/02

  • Updated Carrera GO!!! handle with notch so that rubber bands or a zip tie can be used to secure the controller, rather than using the screws that hold the controller together. Use whichever method you prefer to secure the controller in place.

Update 2025/05/30

  • Confirmed that the Wireless+ handle adapter works on the original infrared Wireless controllers (see photo). Users may need to hold the controller sideways in order to aim the IR emitters at the receiver tower. Contact me if a more natural orientation is important enough to redesign the grip for that controller. Currently, only the top screw can be used to better secure this controller into the handle.
  • Added Carrera GO!!! version. Note that you must use the screws that hold the controller together to mount it to the Handle R piece. The screws are long enough, just be careful not to over-tighten them.

Update 2025/05/25

  • I added a version of Handle R for using the controller assembly screws to secure the controller into the adapter. PLEASE NOTE that the top of the two screws on the side panel is a TORX T-9 screw, NOT hex or Phillips. Make sure you have the correct tools to remove those screws or you may strip the screw heads.
  • The Handle sides have been updated to provide more space for the trigger to reduce friction. Print one or two spacers to reduce wiggle/lateral motion of the trigger and place them on either side of the trigger. Lubricate both sides of the spacers.
  • Triggers have also been updated with slightly larger pivot holes.
  • I'm also working on other versions for variations on the Carrera controllers for digital and analog, but this will take time and access to the controllers.

Thanks go to Sparrow for his carrera-wireless-handle-for-slot-cars that gave me the idea to use the insert socket to hold the Wireless+ Controllers to my handle.

If you would like to print these for sale, please contact me for permission.
