Ratcheting Toothpaste Winder (remix)

The Fusion 360 design (included) allows you to change the tube width and other variables. The included STL is set for a tube width of 58mm – this should handle most tubes.

Usage

To assemble:

• Pass the toothpaste tube through the frame slot or slide it in from the end.
• Insert the key, straddling the tube, all the way into the frame until it snaps.
• Line up and push the gear onto the end of the key.
• Insert the ratchet into the hole in the frame until it snaps. You may need to turn the key slightly so the ratchet fits between teeth.

To unwind the tube for removal, remove the ratchet; or at least, partially remove it until to clears the gear. 

• Cut the tube slot all the way through the end of the frame. This makes it easier to install and remove tubes that have a fat crimped end.
• Made the ratchet a separate part so it can be printed laying down for strength and no support.
• Modified the gear to also serve as a key leg separator.
