Description

The Beta model rocket is a sleek, classic three-fin design built for dependable performance and beginner-friendly operation. With its traditional layout and durable construction, the Beta offers a nostalgic yet reliable rocketry experience. It was specifically designed to be 3d-printed without supports and to be easily assembled and yet withstand the rigors of flight. Designed for standard engines, the Beta can soar up to 700 feet, making it a perfect choice for school projects, hobbyists, and first-time flyers. Easy to assemble and thrilling to launch, the Beta combines vintage style with modern stability for a flight you'll never forget.

Printing

This rocket can be printed in any plastic and is specifically designed for a 0.4mm nozzle. However, if printed with PLA it will be a one shot rocket. In order to make the rocket reusable, you'll need to print in a higher temp plastic such as PETG, ASA, or ABS. Using PLA will cause the recovery charge in the engine to fill the body cavity with hot gasses that will melt the rocket. Supports should not be necessary on any parts.

Recommended Plastic
PlasticPerformance
PLANot recommended (One shot rocket)
PETGAcceptable (Will likely survive but not certain)
ABSRecommended
ASARecommended

Because of the very small surface area touching the build plate, make sure it is very clean and use a brim when printing. PEI build plate recommended. If you have difficulty getting the prints to stay attached, wipe the plate down with steel wool (#0000) and wash with Dawn Powerwash. Be sure to NOT touch the build surface or rub it against anything that may have oil. If you do, wash it again.
