6mm Button Switch Housing with Bottom Holes

The original model has wires coming out the sides. I wanted a way to wire it from the bottom.

Printed with a 0.4mm high flow nozzle set to 0.15mm layer height and 2 perimeters in PETG.

You need to flatten and straighten out your 6mm button pins to make them as square as possible to each other. Try to keep the button level on all sides and check the bottom to make sure the legs are starting to poke through each hole. It may take a couple of tries to get the method down but it works quite well. Press in all the way so metal face surrounding the button is recessed into the casing.

The holes are wide enough to fit the button pins and a header pin as well. Dab a small amount of solder onto each leg of the button then place a header pin into the hole. You may need something to hold the header straight and against the leg of the button. Apply just enough heat to melt the solder and remove heat. You can add more solder if needed.

Model origin

The author remixed this model.

Differences of the remix compared to the original

I filled in the sides where the wires came out and punched four holes in the bottom. This affords you the option of soldering pins or wires to the button pins which lets you fuse the bottom of the housing to something and stick the pins through that. The top shroud and button are the same as the original.
